Participation in a project on the first diamond mine in Quebec

Upon the request of our client, HyperShell Industries had the chance to work on the realization of assembly drawings and manufacturing for several equipments which will be installed on the site of the first diamond mine in Quebec.

This major project is located approximately 250 km north of the Cree community of Mistissini and 350 km north of Chibougamau in the James Bay region north-central of Quebec.

Once the full production capacity will be reached, the project will produce an average of 1.6 million carats throughout the 11 years of the initial life of the mine, which represents approximately 2% of the world supply.

At a time where demand for diamonds continues to increase and where supply is down, the ”Renard Project” is one of the best diamond mines under development globally.

We are very proud of our participation in this project.

Our team of programmers is currently working on a project called IMPALA.

What is IMPALA ?

IMPALA is part of a harmonized global process used for generating Pressure Part Bills of Materials for  project tenders which may be sent to manufacturing shops for cost estimation. It is a common tool required as part of this process and is used for pressure part definition and code calculation. The result will then be in the contract execution to finalize pressure part selections.

The advantages of using IMPALA are :

-The reduced tender time and cost savings due to automation;

-The global use of a common tool for the users;

-The reduction of hardware and tools maintenance;

-One global training program;

-Time and cost savings in contracts due to the re-use of data.

Conjointement avec notre client, HyperShell Industries, a eu la chance de travailler à la réalisation de dessins d’assemblage et de fabrication de plusieurs équipements qui seront installés sur la première mine diamantifère au Québec. Ce projet d’envergure est situé à environ 250 km au nord de la communauté crie de Mistissini et à 350 km au nord de Chibougamau, dans la région de la Baie-James du centre-nord du Québec. Une fois qu’il aura atteint sa pleine capacité de production, le projet produira en moyenne 1,6 million de carats tout au long des 11 années de la durée de vie initiale de la mine, soit environ 2% de l’offre mondiale. Dans une période où la demande de diamants ne cesse de croître et où l’offre est en baisse, Renard est aujourd’hui l’une des meilleures mines diamantifères en cours de développement au niveau mondial. Nous sommes vraiment fiers d’avoir participé à ce projet québécois.

Cocktail party to celebrate our 25 years!

It is on May 6th that employees, managers and founders were invited to celebrate the 25 years of HyperShell at a cocktail party. We had the opportunity to hear our President / CEO, Rémi Naaman, talking about HyperShell. Also, one of the founders, Pierre Messier, talked about the beginning of HyperShell. Thereafter, in turn, Dany Chaput, Martine Cusson, François Carrier, Nicholas Beaudry, Yves Boucher who retired in 2014, Lucie Longpré and Martin Côté came to us reminiscing. Unfortunately the second founders, Denis Lambert could not come and also Pierre Thibodeau who retired  a few years ago, could not be present but this is only a postponement!
